Mererid Haf is a graphic artist based in North West Wales, UK. She divides her time between producing art and working in marketing and graphic design. Her areas of expertise include visual arts, illustration, printing, bookmaking and digital design. Mererid also has wide-ranging experience of working with tactile materials such as paints, papers, inks and collage, all of which she uses to create her art. She draws inspiration from the environment, natural world and heritage which surrounds her, also taking an interest in the topics of psychology, mental health and communication.
The study and practice of art has been part of Mererid’s life since her earliest years; from pouring through the pages of colourful design books to doodling, drawing and creating with all kinds of media – she was surrounded by art at home and encouraged to be creative. Mererid made art and design a full-time focus in 2006 with her studies at Coleg Menai in Bangor, gaining a BTEC National Diploma by 2008. She then went on to study at Liverpool John Moores University School of Art and was awarded a BA (Hons) Graphic Arts degree in 2011.
Since graduating, Mererid has spent her time developing her creative practice in the areas of graphic design and freehand illustration whilst continuing to work on many other personal and collaborative projects. She has also travelled across Europe, Central America and South East Asia experiencing different cultures and environments. Mererid particularly enjoys studying maps, photographing abstract compositions, capturing surface textures and collecting linework patterns wherever she goes, all of which in turn feed into her artistic output.
